Humankind was created as a very special being by God in His own image and likeness, to represent God, care for the world, and engage in his Creators worship.
We should have a personal relationship with God, helping us find our identity, purpose, and letting us grow spiritually to a deeper union with our Creator.
Why a Personal Relationship with God
First are relations, we are encountered with many a relations in our life from the time we are born.
There are family relations, friendly relations, work relations and many more.
Then there are relations that are very special to us, relations we cherish and we love.
This relation is muscled with love, trust, hope, and faith that we have towards the other person. All our good and bad secrets and moments we can share with this person and trust its safe keeping.
The person can be a friend, our spouse or a family member.
This person is special and thus we have a personal relationship with this person.
Personal relationship is very important. It gives us a companionship of love, trust and support from the other person.
If earthly relations matter and can get personal, a personal relationship with God, let it not be just a devotion but a relation that is intimate and beyond.
Prayers and devotion are essential for a Christian, but a relation with Jesus cannot be just to give thanks and to praise Him.
Jesus seeks more, His love and sacrifice deserves far more.
Jesus, son of God is not commanding you, He is seeking love as response to His love, that He has for you.
An unconditional love, no earthly give and take kind.
No matter what you think or treat Him, for Him you are special, you are very personal and important.
Jesus the kings of kings, God of Gods seeks a personal relationship with you.
You may be an atheist, or the modern mind thinking that you don’t have anything to do with God.
Now God’s response would be (according to us humans and our behavioral pattern)
“Fine. I’ll blow you off, too. I will never help you.”
God is not like that.
He’s as close to you as the breath you breathe.
All you have to do is call Him out, to draw close to Jesus, and He’s right there.
He’s not holding the past against you. No earthly grudges that we as humans specialize in…
He’s not upset because you ignored Him.
He’s not turned off because you didn’t believe in Him.
God waited when you were off course and discarded Him of your life, as somebody that is fiction, yes for many God is a fiction or to a few, a superstition.
God waits when you had a bad attitude towards Him.
He even smiles over your limited understanding.
He waited when you failed, when you were addicted, when you were compromising. He showed you mercy.
He picked you up when you fell.
He protected you when you chose the wrong friends.
He prevented the accident that could have taken you out of your living days.
He waited when you were upset because God didn’t answer your prayer.
He’s waiting for you even now.
His arms are always wide open, seeking a spiritual hug.
Why don’t you draw close to Him?
He’s promised to draw close to you.
“You are forgiven” are the Lord’s words every day.
After all that, this is what you should will to do, is to have a personal relationship with God.
What happens in a Personal Relationship with God
This walk of life has its share of runs and falls, we are tired and weary and the promise first came from Jesus…
This hand of aid and concern first came from Jesus.
Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! (Matthew 6 :8)
Jesus has lived it all, our Lord is no stranger to our anguishes and pains.
When Jesus walked on earth, if He was 100% divine, He was also 100% human, that’s our faith.
As human even He wept, was tempted, faced and lived extreme agony.
Jesus thus by living on the small blue planet, knows our agony and pain too.
As Christian, in faith we believe in Jesus as the son of God, and God Himself.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
John is now putting Jesus on the same level. He is giving him a place of equality with God.
So a personal relationship with God involves even when we have it with Jesus, as Jesus is God.
Having a personal relationship with any person as we live on earth, gives us trust, faith, comfort, and a feel of companionship.
Yet all that can fail and end even at a slightest stir of misunderstanding. There’s no strength and longevity guaranteed to earthly relations, even if you tag it as highly personal.
Jesus relationship with His creation that includes nature is pure and overflowing in love, and with humankind it is held dear and spiritually bonded.
Jesus love for humanity was already tested by the sacrifice of His body and blood that He offered so that we humankind would be saved and be in His kingdom, its love of Jesus for us each alone, that will bring us salvation, and none of our own earthly deeds and actions, that are filled in sins and a life of unwillingness of God that we live.
A personal relationship with God will prepare us to know the will of our Creator, it will imbibe in us the very nature of God.
Do not us, as we live our earthly days get influenced and imitate to live the kind of life in actions and deeds of persons that really impact us and our understanding.
For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
(1 Corinthians 1:25)
So understanding God’s will and living them is still wiser and right even if the worldly assumptions negate them as foolish and weak.
For when in a personal relationship with Jesus the life is yours, but the words that you speak, the path you choose, the moves you make is then not lived by you but is guided and steered by the great “I Am” who is dear and personal to you.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Yes, let Jesus be the shepherd to us the sheep, in this personal relationship with God.
You were born not just a procreation to your parents.
Your life has a purpose, it was designed by the creator. Nobody is a filler in God’s Creation, not even a plant, and a flower or an insect that is born to live just a day.
All were and have existed as a will of God with a purpose.
Even if we never know our purpose, but living a life in the will of God is living a life of purpose, and when in His Kingdom, and in our after life, we would be glad we lived it all, when in a relationship with God, that was personal, obedient and in reverence to His will and love.
A personal relationship with God will make us touch lives that we encounter, as then it’ll be the influence of Jesus that will be shining bright within us to spread the very nature of love and compassion of the “Good Shepherd”.
It’s the company we keep that shows in thoughts and deeds to others of who we really are, goes the saying…
This time the companionship and influence is the “Son of God”, you only will be having a second name now by others, “an angel”.
Like our speech, skills, talents, wisdom, and more, there is a lot many free gifts within us each, again placed within us of which we are ignorant or aren’t capable of unveiling.
There is endurance, peace, divine wisdom, foresight of the afterlife, all written and stored within us each, in our soul.
But the soul has an encrypted language.
A personal relationship with God is your key to all that seem blind and invisible to us. It’s here that all the secret code will be known to us by the Master of the Universe.
Jesus, He is waiting for you, as if He had seen this day with you when He had first created the universe.
Jesus knew then when the first man was created that you would be coming in time, and how much He wanted that time to just pass by, so to have you to be in His presence, when it was your time on earth.
The need is for us more to be in His presence and to be in a personal relationship with God, but the desire, urge and waiting is Jesus’ more than us.
The difference is in who loves more and wholly.
And the answer is Jesus…
Brick by Brick: Building that Relationship
The flow has to be constant for the water, to show effect.
Let it not be a still water pond, the water was meant to be overflowing, like falling from a mountain into a flowing river and just flowing and nourishing all that cometh its way.
A personal relationship with God is this water, this overflowing water.
Build this relationship brick by brick…
- In Prayers and Talking to Jesus
Talk to Jesus as a friend, a brother, a father, a love, any relationship that makes Him special and personal, He will mold or dress Himself for you, as He loves you.
Talk to Him, He is listening, all attentively and also replying His concern for you, so wait back to listen to Him.
Talk to Jesus everyday, many times a day.
- In the Words
The Holy Bible, God says, I inspired it all for you, the words are mine. Find my presence, my personal presence, all dissolved in them. We can get intimate and real, when you live my word.
- In Others Around You
Mother Teresa said she saw ‘Jesus’ in the suffering poor.
Her relationship with God, reflected outside what was filled within.
Fill your heart and mind with Jesus, walk and live to have a personal relationship with God and find love and harmony around you.
- In His Creation
God is dissolved in all His creation, it’s like God’s signature and footprints is all there to be seen.
“God’s Glory is in His Creation.”
- Simplicity of Life
A life so ordinary, make it extraordinary. Make it supernatural.
A personal relationship with God will make it all.
Love the life, a life in God.
Live it now when on earth, preparing the path and convert this path to a stairway to heaven, where Jesus arms still invite with open arms just as they were when He was crucified on the cross for His love for us.
Jesus, my personal savior.
